Choosing children
The specialist degree in children’s dentistry (MDS in Pediatric Dentistry), Manipal University, second rank in the university exams. In 2011, certified in sedation that keeps a child calm but awake (conscious sedation).

Ten days that set the direction
Residency at the Children’s Dental Centre, with Dr. Justin Lee.

Tooth Tales opens
Founded Tooth Tales, a dental clinic only for children.

Cleft care for newborns
Training at New York University, with Dr. Barry Grayson, in shaping a newborn’s gum and nose before cleft lip surgery (nasoalveolar moulding).

The fellowship
A year at SickKids Hospital treating children with special needs and conditions of the face and skull (craniofacial care), under every form of sedation and with the child fully asleep (general anaesthesia). The first Indian pediatric dentist on the fellowship.

Presenting for India
Bengt Magnusson Memorial Prize at the congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry. Certified in laser dentistry (GLOH, Canada) the same year.

Teaching abroad
Symposium speaker in Dubai, co-trainer for a 3-day workshop in Port Louis, Mauritius, and invited speaker at Nepal’s national pediatric dentistry conference. Joined the DEBRA International group writing care guidelines for people whose skin and mouth blister at the slightest touch (epidermolysis bullosa).

Training other dentists
Co-founded PEDOZEN, a training programme for dentists. Its delegates have since come from Kenya, Israel, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Italy, Mauritius, Nepal, the US and Canada.

Special Olympics
Assistant Clinical Director for Special Olympics Bharat: 75,000+ athletes given a dental check in 75 cities on one day, a Guinness World Record. Wrote the special needs chapter in Pediatric Dentistry: Principles and Practice the same year.

The laughing gas award
The Dr. J.C. Lee Nitrous Oxide Award, from the South Asian Association of Pediatric Dentistry (nitrous oxide is the medical name for laughing gas). Spoke in Seoul on sedation for children on the autism spectrum.

Fellow of IAPD
Fellowship of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, after the fellowship exam: one of 14 fellows named in India. Joint winner of the Caries Management Case Report award, for the written account of one child’s tooth decay (caries), treated at Tooth Tales.

Chief pediatric dentist at Tooth Tales, running the laughing gas, special needs and airway clinics, and Associate Professor at ITS Dental College. Fellow of the International Association for Disability and Oral Health since August 2026. Families travel from across India and from abroad.

Everyday dental care
Check-ups, cleaning, fillings, caps (crowns) and root canals in milk teeth, from the first tooth onwards. Every session runs at least 40 minutes.

Autism, ADHD, sensory needs, intellectual disability and more. More than 1,000 children with special needs have been treated at Tooth Tales. Adults with special needs are treated in a hospital setting.

Yes. Dr. Sanchit Paul holds the specialist degree in children’s dentistry (MDS in Pediatric Dentistry): three more years of training after the dental degree, at Manipal University from 2010 to 2013. Pediatric dentistry has been the work for more than 15 years.

Only adults with special needs, and they are treated in a hospital setting rather than at the clinic. Otherwise the clinic treats children, from day one to around 16.
