A year-long residency in surgery of the mouth, jaw and face (oral and maxillofacial surgery) at Safdarjung Hospital. Alongside it, a postgraduate diploma in hospital administration from Medvarsity, at Apollo Hospital.
A short residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Montreal General Hospital, and time spent watching children’s care (an observership) at SickKids Hospital, Toronto. Certified in psychological first aid the same year.
Began releasing tongue ties and lip ties: the tight bands of tissue under the tongue or the upper lip that can make feeding hard.
Began lactation counselling, helping mothers and babies with breastfeeding. Honorary member of the Association of Lactation Professionals of India (ALPI) the same year, and at GOLD Learning’s tongue tie symposium every year since.
Stanford’s short course on breastfeeding, and certification in emergency life support for infants and children (Pediatric Advanced Life Support, PALS).
Advanced Certified Lactation Professional (2020 to 2021). From 2021, at the GOLD Lactation conference and at CUIBP, an online lactation conference run by Begin Ed India, every year.
Cleared the exam of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). The exam comes after 95 hours of lactation education and hundreds of hours of lactation practice with families.

How the IBCLC is earnedA tongue tie is when the strip of skin joining the tongue to the floor of the mouth is shorter than usual. Some babies are not bothered by it. In others it limits how the tongue moves, which can make breastfeeding harder. A lip tie is a similar tight band under the upper lip.
